Taihu Eighteen Bends Scenic Belt

Taihu Eighteen Bends Scenic Belt was the site of the ancient capital of Helü during the Spring and Autumn Period. It borders the famous Wuxi garden, Meiyuan, to the east, neighbors Mashan National Tourist Resort to the south, and connects to Yixing, the Pottery Capital, to the west. It is known as the “golden carrying pole” linking downtown Wuxi and Mashan National Tourist Resort. The planned area extends from Yugangkou in the east to Lüjiangkou in the west, spanning approximately 8.87 kilometers in length and covering a planned area of about 9.258 square kilometers. This area features a landscape of mountains behind and water in front, boasting superior natural conditions and rich scenic layers. The planning fully leverages its distinctive mountain-water features to elevate the region’s appeal and meet future development needs, focusing on building a modern scenic destination that uniquely combines mountain-water landscapes, lakeside views, sports and fitness, tourism and vacation, and leisure and entertainment.

Taihu Eighteen Bends Scenic Belt is embraced by lakes and mountains, with picturesque green hills and clear waters. The area is home to the Ten Scenes of Lüjiang, the Eight Scenes of Xixi, as well as historical sites such as the City of Helü, Wu Xiang Ancestral Temple, the Camp of Wu Zixu, the Tomb of Qin Shangshu, and the Tomb of Zhang Jun. There are also the burial sites of notable figures such as the modern industrialist Rong Zongjing. Eight sanatoriums or training bases have been established here, and many domestic and international businesspeople find themselves captivated by this dragon-swallowing-pearl geomantic treasure land.

The wetland landscape belt of Taihu Eighteen Bends provides an excellent ecological environment for birds and fish, making it their paradise. Particularly notable are the frequent visits by egrets, known as the “environmental monitors,” which add vibrant life to the wetland area. Numerous egrets can be seen playing, foraging, and “admiring the lotus” in the wetlands, soaring through the sky, creating a beautiful and lively scene.
