The Wuxi Meiliang Lake Water Conservancy Scenic Area is a national water conservancy scenic area.

The Wuxi Meiliang Lake Water Conservancy Scenic Area is situated by Taihu Lake, about 10 kilometers southwest of downtown Wuxi, adjacent to the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal to the north and the expansive, magnificent Taihu Lake to the south. Key infrastructure within the area—including the Dushan Flood Control Hub, the Zhihu Port Water Control Hub, and the Meiliang Lake Pumping Station Hub—were built and operational between 1991 and 2004. These projects serve critical functions such as flood control, drainage, water environment improvement for the Wuchengxi Lowland and downtown Wuxi, as well as supporting navigation and water resource protection. Together, they have delivered substantial economic and social benefits, contributing greatly to the sustainable development of Wuxi’s economy and society. This project stands as a landmark achievement in Wuxi’s strategic shift in water management approaches, and has become a flagship initiative for the city.

Located within the Wuxi Taihu Scenic Area, the Wuxi Meiliang Lake Water Conservancy Scenic Area is less than 100 meters from the national AAAA-level scenic spot Yuantouzhu Park. It is surrounded by numerous renowned attractions, including Taihu Lake, Li Lake, the national AAAA-level Lianyuan Park, the Grand Buddha at Lingshan, and the Plum Garden. The scenic area has now been fully integrated into the larger planning framework of the Wuxi Taihu Scenic Area. Highlights within the site include Xiangling Bay, Lotus Harbor, and Reed Marshes. With its breathtaking Taihu landscapes, grand water conservancy structures, rich ecological environment, abundant natural surroundings, and diverse cultural attractions, the area offers an all-in-one destination for sightseeing, leisure, vacationing, and outdoor activities.
