Yangming Grand Bridge

Yangming Grand Bridge is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Jiangsu Province.

Yangming Grand Bridge is located in Taihu Subdistrict, Binhu District, Wuxi City. The bridge was built in the second year of the Ming Shun era (1458), over a hundred years before the Qingming Bridge, and initially had only a single arch. It was renovated during the Jiajing era. In the fifth year of the Qianlong era (1740), two additional side arches were added. It was destroyed in the tenth year of the Xianfeng era (1860). In July of the eighth year of the Tongzhi era (1869), initiated by Ding Mingkui, donations were raised to rebuild Yangming Grand Bridge. The bridge is over 40 meters long and about 3 meters high. The bridge parapet is 40 centimeters thick. The bridge deck is trapezoidal, 4 meters wide at the base and approximately 3 meters wide at the top, paved with stone slabs. There are over 20 steps on the southern side. It is now a three-arch stone bridge, sturdy and practical. In 2006, it was designated as a Jiangsu Provincial Cultural Relics Protection Unit by the People’s Government of Jiangsu Province.
