Former Residence and Tomb of Lu Xiaobo

The former residence and tomb of Lu Xiaobo are protected as a cultural heritage site under Jiangsu Province.

The former residence of Lu Xiaobo is located at No. 68 Dasuo Street in the urban area. It is a traditional residential building from the Qing Dynasty, facing south with its back to the north, consisting of four courtyards arranged along a central axis, with living quarters attached at the northernmost end. The first and second courtyards are single-story buildings, with the main gate located on the east side of the first courtyard. The second courtyard features an exquisitely crafted brick carving of the “Eight Immortals Offering Longevity” above the door. The third courtyard has a rolled shed roof and forms a double-hall structure, with a covered walkway-style half pavilion in the courtyard. The fourth courtyard is a two-story building with carved railings, serving as Lu Xiaobo’s living quarters. Both floors consist of three rooms flanked by two side rooms, forming a concave layout. A small alley runs along the eastern side, containing a well. In 2007, the residence was designated as a cultural relic protection unit of Zhenjiang City. In December 2007, descendants of Lu Xiaobo donated the residence to the Zhenjiang Municipal People's Government. In 2008, the municipal government funded a complete dismantling and restoration of the residence by the Zhenjiang Municipal Bureau of Culture and the Office of the Cultural Relics Management Committee, following the principle of “restoring the old as it was, to preserve its authenticity,” thus restoring its original appearance.

In December 2011, the Jiangsu Provincial People's Government listed it as part of the seventh batch of provincial-level cultural relic protection units.
