The Subei Flower Demonstration Garden is a national AAA-level tourist attraction.

The Subei Flower Demonstration Garden in Shuyang is located on the beautiful banks of the Xin Yi River, in the hometown of Yu Ji and the flower town of Shuyang. It was established in the central area of the original 300,000-mu (approximately 200,000 acres) flower and nursery production base in Shuyang County. Based on industrial development needs, the garden fully utilizes the historical, cultural, and resource advantages of Shuyang — known as the “Flower Town of Western Chu” — and was founded as part of a comprehensive plan to develop eco-agricultural tourism.

The entire demonstration garden covers an area of over 1,600 mu, with more than 200 mu dedicated to office and research facilities, and a green coverage rate as high as 98%. The garden is divided into eastern and western sections, featuring over ten planting areas such as evergreen arbor, deciduous arbor, flowering shrub, and native tree species zones, encompassing hundreds of plant varieties. The layout is rational and richly varied, with small bridges, flowing water, and winding paths. To cater to the trend of eco-leisure tourism, the garden has invested further to add more than 20 attractions and activities with historical and cultural significance and strong participatory appeal, including two pavilions, nine bridges, eighteen bends, a fishing center, the Hanlin Garden, tennis courts, and a golf driving range.

With the themes of “historical culture, green agriculture, and leisure fitness,” the garden continuously enriches its eco-agricultural content and enhances its ornamental and recreational value. It aims to become a comprehensive flower town tourist destination integrating sightseeing, travel, leisure, fitness, dining, and entertainment, thereby achieving sustainable development in ecological, social, and economic benefits.
