Hometown of Yu Ji

The Hometown of Yu Ji is a cultural tourism attraction.

Yu Ji, the beloved concubine of Xiang Yu, was named Yu. When Xiang Yu was besieged at Gaixia, he wrote a poem that said, “Yu, oh Yu, what shall I do with you?” See Records of the Grand Historian, Volume 7, The House of Xiang Yu. She was known for her beauty and skill in sword dancing. In 209 BC, Xiang Yu assisted Xiang Liang in killing the governor of Kuaiji and launched a rebellion in Wu. Yu Ji admired Xiang Yu’s bravery and married him as a concubine, often accompanying Xiang Yu on military campaigns. After Xiang Liang’s death, Xiang Yu became the deputy commander and later rose to the rank of supreme general, with Yu Ji always by his side. This is the hometown of the renowned Chu-Han figure Yu Ji, home to scenic and historical sites such as Yu Ji River, Yu Ji Temple, Overlord Bridge, and the Jiulongkou Residence of the Xiang Family.
