Sishui River Water Conservancy Scenic Area

The Sishui River Water Conservancy Scenic Area is a national AAA-level tourist attraction and a national water conservancy scenic area.

Located in the main urban area of Siyang County, the Sishui River Water Conservancy Scenic Area covers a total area of 1.286 million square meters, including 349,000 square meters of water surface. Relying on the Sishui River, Xiaoxihu Lake, and Wuli Lake Wetland, the scenic area makes full use of the surrounding natural resources, deeply explores water culture, focuses on improving aquatic ecology, and comprehensively creates water landscapes, forming a picturesque scroll where cityscapes blend into the scenery, and vice versa — featuring clear waters, green banks, classical charm, and modern vibrance. It has now been designated as a national water conservancy scenic area.

The Sishui River meanders with crystal-clear waters, lined with rows of willows. Along the river, pavilions, terraces, towers, bridges, and sculptures are thoughtfully arranged, complementing each other beautifully. At night, the river reflects the neon lights from both banks, casting a dazzling array of lights and shadows, resembling a long, colorful ribbon — truly breathtaking. Xiaoxihu Lake, situated upstream of the Sishui River, shimmers with clear, translucent waters and ever-changing vistas. The Lansheng Pavilion, standing by the lake at a height of 15 meters over three stories, offers the best vantage point to gaze out over the beautiful Sishui scenery. Whether strolling along the riverbanks or boating on the water, visitors will find the experience refreshing and delightful.

Wuli Lake Wetland adopts a "terrestrial — wetland — aquatic" construction layout. The vegetation within the park is arranged at varying heights with distinct layers, creating a harmonious sense of rhythm. The park’s pathways, water-friendly platforms, and leisure boardwalks are mainly constructed with blue bricks, stone, and wood materials, exuding a natural, simple, and ecologically friendly charm.

Within the ancient Sishui City located in the northern part of the scenic area stands a grand and imposing statue of the Sishui King. The statue faces south and stands 8.4 meters tall, with its body gilded in gold that shines brilliantly, serving as an object of worship and prayer for devotees and visitors alike.

Located on the east side of the Sishui River, the Luoma Ancient Street stretches less than 100 meters and features an overall architectural style of the Ming and Qing dynasties, with dark tiles, white walls, and upturned eaves. The spacious, serene streets, along with the classic and graceful pagodas, pavilions, and sculptures, connect seamlessly with the Western-style replica Han Dynasty Sishui Ancient City and the Sishui River landscape belt, forming a spatial-temporal scenic corridor that spans from west to east, and from the Chu-Han period through the Ming and Qing dynasties to the modern era.

The world’s only poplar culture exhibition hall — the China Poplar Museum, covers an area of 40,000 square meters. Completed and opened to the public in 2007, it is another highlight of the scenic area and is now a national 4A-level tourist attraction as well as a wedding photography base in the Plain Forest Sea. Currently, the main building houses nine exhibition halls that collectively showcase the unique charm of poplar development, related products, and cultural artworks.

“On a fine day, I seek fragrant blooms by the Sishui shores; a myriad of fresh scenes unfold before my eyes.” The open Sishui River National Water Conservancy Scenic Area harmoniously blends green ecology with timeless elegance, presenting itself as a silent poem, a vivid painting, and a melodious, harmonious song — attracting visitors from all directions to come in endless streams.
