The Siyang County Museum serves as a patriotic education base.

The Siyang County Museum is located within the "Four Museums and One Center" complex at the southeast corner of the Civic Square in Siyang County. It is divided into two exhibition areas: Cultural Relics Unearthed from the Sishui Kings' Tombs and the Exhibition of Siyang’s Historical Culture.

Cultural Relics Collection

The over 100 pieces of exquisite cultural relics from the Sishui Kings' Tombs that debuted at the 2nd China Poplar Festival span a wide range of categories, including bronze ware, gold and silverware, pottery, jade artifacts, musical instruments, lacquerware, wood carvings, and coins—all burial objects of royalty. Among them, the bronze ware stands out the most, particularly notable for its rare large bronze basin and uniquely characteristic series of bronze mirrors with exquisitely detailed patterns that remain completely free of corrosion, instantly catching the eye. The wooden carvings, unearthed in large quantities (making up about 80% of the total relics), are also the most prominent, featuring vividly crafted chariots, weapons, and more, demonstrating craftsmanship that is truly exceptional. Among the exhibits, the “big shot” is a crossbow mechanism excavated from the main tomb chamber—unique in the world, plated with silver and inlaid with gold, shining as if brand new, with lively patterns showing a golden arrow shooting through two birds, an exaggerated yet expressive design that qualifies as a masterpiece. The crossbow was the most advanced long-range weapon used by armies at the time, and such finely crafted crossbow mechanisms not only reflect the advanced military technology of Han-era Siyang but also demonstrate the extraordinary status, identity, and experiences of the tomb’s occupant.

Architectural Layout

The Exhibition of Siyang’s Historical Culture systematically presents the county’s 5,000-year civilization history and 2,000-year history as an administrative region, showcasing the intelligence, diligence, innovation, and cultural heritage of generations of Siyang people. The Cultural Relics Unearthed from the Sishui Kings' Tombs exhibition area primarily focuses on the theme of “The Rise and Fall of the Ancient Sishui Kingdom during the Western Han Dynasty.” Using the exquisite relics unearthed from the excavated noble tombs of the Chen Dun Han Tomb and Da Qing Dun Han Tomb in the Sishui Kings’ Tomb aristocratic cemetery, it scientifically and magnificently recreates the splendor and civilization of Han-era Siyang in a systematic and complete manner.

Development History

Since 2011, the Siyang County Party Committee and County Government have strictly adhered to the national 4A-level tourist attraction standards. They have further increased investment in the construction of the China Poplar Museum project, improved the foundational facilities of the scenic area, enriched visiting and sightseeing content, and enhanced tourism services and reception standards. These efforts have earned high praise from tourism experts at both the national and provincial scenic evaluation committees. Consequently, the China Poplar Museum has successfully been rated as a national 4A-level tourist attraction to high standards.
