Yingdong Village Fishing Homestay is located at the easternmost tip of China’s third-largest island, where the Yangtze River meets the East China Sea. It is the first village on Chongming Island to greet the sunrise. Visitors today would find it hard to imagine that just over a decade ago, this place was a desolate expanse where “incoming tides brought endless white waters, and receding ones left behind vast fields of reeds.”

Yingdong Village: Established on April 21, 1989, Yingdong Village is situated at the southeasternmost point of Chongming Island, at the estuary where the river meets the sea. It borders the East China Sea to the east, the Yangtze River to the south, and the Dongtan Wetland to the north, just 6 kilometers away from the Shanghai Yangtze River Tunnel and Bridge. The land was reclaimed starting in the early winter of 1985 under the leadership of the current Party Branch Secretary and National Model Worker, Comrade Lu Wenzhong.
