Shanghai Chongming Lotus Expo Garden

The Lotus Expo Garden is located to the east of Mingzhu Lake Park, a national 4A-level tourist attraction, and to the south of Shanghai Chongming Xisha National Wetland Park, also a national 4A-level tourist attraction. It is currently the largest site in Shanghai for displaying and cultivating premium domestic and international lotus varieties, integrating flower cultivation, viewing, appreciation, fragrance experience, and tea culture. The park offers multi-functional facilities for lotus culture research, science education, and eco-leisure tourism and entertainment.

The Chongming Lotus Expo Garden has now built 100 (diverse and graceful) flower-viewing ponds, 6 (charming and enjoyable) flower-appreciation pavilions, a 200-meter (meditative and wellness-focused) flower-tasting corridor, a 2,000-square-meter vibrant shopping area for flower art products, seasonal lotus-viewing shaded structures, a 500-square-meter multifunctional Lotus Fairy tourist entertainment square, a 3,000-square-meter lawn plaza for visitor leisure, along with supporting facilities such as a 100-square-meter visitor center, a parking lot capable of accommodating 400 vehicles at once, and more.

Currently, the Chongming Lotus Expo Garden has planted over 6,000 ornamental plants including osmanthus, ginkgo, crabapple, and crape myrtle. It cultivates more than 360 varieties of ornamental, fragrant, and vegetable lotuses, including rare species such as the space-bred "Space Lotus" and the "Ancient Lotus" unearthed in Liaoning Province. There are also hundreds of water lily varieties, including fragrant water lilies introduced from Taiwan that bloom year-round, are both ornamental and edible, and have high medicinal value, as well as various rare aquatic plants.
