History Museum of Yingdong Village

The History Museum of Yingdong Village is a patriotic education base.

Yingdong Village is located on Chongming Island, the third largest island in China, at the confluence of the Yangtze River and the East China Sea. It is a piece of land reclaimed since the mid-1980s. On April 21, 1989, Yingdong Village was officially established as an administrative village with the approval of the Chongming County People's Government, under the jurisdiction of Chenjia Town. The Yingdong Village Party Branch was set up in July of the same year. By the end of 2012, Yingdong Village covered an area of 2.67 square kilometers, with 84 households and a population of 206.

The Yingdong Village History Museum opened on July 1, 2006. It primarily showcases the remarkable achievements of the villagers of Yingdong who built their village through three rounds of dike construction and reclamation over a nine-year struggle against nature. They transformed the tidal flats, once "a vast white expanse when the tide comes in and a sea of reeds when it recedes," into a thriving community by upholding collectivism and pursuing common prosperity. They developed farming and aquaculture, innovated and transitioned into tourism, and comprehensively built a new socialist countryside. With support from higher authorities, Yingdong Village has long been committed to public patriotic education and was officially designated as the fifth batch of Shanghai Patriotic Education Bases in April 2012.

Coming from downtown Shanghai:

Take Metro Line 1 to Wenshui Road Station, then transfer to the Shen-Chong Line 1 to reach Chenjia Town Hub Station. From there, take the local Chenbai Line bus to the entrance of Yingdong Village.

Alternatively, take Metro Line 2 to Shanghai Science and Technology Museum Station, then transfer to the Shen-Chong Line 2 to reach Chenjia Town Hub Station. From there, take the local Chenbai Line bus to the entrance of Yingdong Village.

Coming from directions such as Nanmen or Baozhen:

The main bus routes are Nan-Yu Line (from Nanmen), Bao-Chen Line (from Baozhen), and Bao-Qianchen Line (from Baozhen).

If you are coming from other areas or other tourist attractions on Chongming, you can take other buses or a taxi to transfer to Chenjia Town Hub Station, and then take the Chenbai Line to reach Yingdong Village.

Taking a Chongming taxi from Chenjia Town Hub Station to Yingdong Resort takes about ten minutes and costs around 28 RMB.
