The Liberation of Chongming Island Landing Monument is a patriotic education base.

The Liberation of Chongming Island Landing Monument is a youth patriotic education base established by the Chongming County Committee and the County People’s Government. On May 30, 1949, in order to liberate Chongming Island, the 75th Regiment of the 25th Division of the Third Field Army of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army crossed the Yangtze River from Liuhékǒu on the south bank, with the main force landing at Haiqiaogang in Xincheng Town. On June 2, the defending enemy forces on the island surrendered, and the entire Chongming Island was liberated. To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the liberation of Chongming, the Chongming County Committee of the Communist Party of China and the Chongming County People’s Government erected this monument on June 2, 1999, at Haiqiaogang in Xincheng Town, the site where the main forces landed.
