Hengyun Mountain boasts beautiful landscapes, with striking rocks and perilous peaks rising abruptly, dramatic cliffs and deep valleys that take one’s breath away, along with deep caves tucked away discreetly. At its foot, wave-lapped rocks complete the scenery. Among all the peaks, it is the one richest and most exquisite in natural features such as mountains, water, rocks, caves, and springs. It resembles a three-dimensional Chinese painting. Many masterpieces by celebrated painters from the renowned Songjiang School of Painting during the Ming Dynasty drew inspiration from the landscapes here. It also served as the mountain model for the Songjiang School’s landscape art.
