The Taiwanese debut of Kura (くら寿司, Mujintei Sushi), Japan’s third-largest revolving sushi chain, began trial operations on December 17. It is located at the intersection of Nanjing East Road and Songjiang Road (Exit 8 of Songjiang Nanjing Station), with a total of 148 seats. In addition to special menu items, all plates are uniformly priced at NT$40.

KURA is a long-established affordable sushi restaurant from Osaka, known for not using chemical seasonings, artificial sweeteners, synthetic dyes, or artificial preservatives. It is one of the most beloved conveyor belt sushi chains in Japan. The Kura Songjiang Nanjing store is also the brand’s first overseas branch in Asia. Currently, there are 350 stores across Japan, 7 in the United States, and plans to open 3 more in Taiwan within 2015.

The Taipei store adopts the same design as its Japanese outlets. Customers can use touch panels for quick ordering. Interestingly, after finishing your meal, if you place the used plates in the recycling area and collect five plates, you can play a game on the touch panel and have a chance to win a revolving sushi-themed phone charm gashapon.
