Shanghai Sheshan Forest Bird Garden is located in the scenic Sheshan National Tourist Resort. It was jointly developed by the Sheshan National Tourist Resort United Development Corporation and the Shanghai Wildlife Park Development Co., Ltd. Covering an area of over 20,000 square meters on a hillside, it is a new large-scale eco-tourism attraction that perfectly blends technology with nature, integrating appreciation, knowledge, and entertainment, and featuring sightseeing, leisure, and recreational functions. It is also one of Shanghai’s science education bases. The garden is home to over 50 species of birds, totaling nearly 10,000 individuals, including first- and second-class nationally protected species such as the Oriental white stork, red-crowned crane, and green peafowl. Imported foreign birds include macaws, black swans, emus, and African ostriches.

The garden features a landscape of rolling hills and valleys, dense forests, fragrant flowers, singing birds, and murmuring streams. It includes more than 10 viewing and recreational areas such as the Parrot Pavilion, Peacock Garden, Ostrich Area, Pigeon Square, Swan Pond, Myna Woods, Thrush Grove, Golden Pheasant Garden, Leisure Pavilion, Bird-Feeding Pavilion, and Bird Theater. Multiple large-scale bird performances are held daily, providing endless amusement. Specially trained parrots, magpies, and other birds can perform a variety of acts, such as “human-bird dialogue,” “mountain bike racing,” “disco dancing,” “arithmetic,” and “tightrope walking.” The garden also has designated bird feeding stations where visitors can feed the birds and enjoy the wonderful experience of being surrounded by them. As visitors stroll through the garden, they can also learn about the living habits and breeding characteristics of various birds through educational posters displayed in the science corridors, thereby gaining knowledge about birds and fostering love and protection for these friends of humanity.
