??Xiuhu Lake is located at the western end of Wenxiang Road in Songjiang New Town, Shanghai, adjacent to Dongshenggang Road. It is a large wetland park newly developed by the Shanghai Municipal Government in Songjiang New Town. In addition to the expansive ??Xiuhu Lake wetland, thousands of fruit trees and flowering plants such as cherry blossoms, peach blossoms, plum blossoms, apricot blossoms, camellias, pomegranates, and persimmons are planted along the lakeshore. The park also features themed gardens such as the Plum Garden, Osmanthus Garden, Crabapple Garden, Peach Garden, Cherry Garden, and Rose Garden. Aquatic plants like lotus, water lily, lythrum, and thalia are cultivated in the water, making it the second major botanical destination in Songjiang after the Shanghai Chen Shan Botanical Garden.

On a granite stone tablet surrounded by flowers, the three elegant and graceful red characters “??Xiuhu Lake” are engraved. Walking along the straight main path into the scenic area, you’ll find lush, neatly arranged trees. There are no ancient trees or secluded temples, but the fresh air, gentle breeze, crisp birdsong, and vibrant greenery exude the beauty of nature and pristine wilderness, creating a vivid and harmonious atmosphere that feels truly enchanting.

Following a path to ??Xiuhu Lake, you’ll see a stretch of azure water shaped like a crescent moon. Waterbirds glide over the lake, and a five-arch stone bridge leads you to a green island in the center. Towering high-voltage transmission towers stand prominently yet not out of place on the green island, exuding a bold and heroic charm. Around the towers, loquat and pomegranate trees stand gracefully, embodying a romantic tale of beauty and strength. Standing on the wooden boardwalk in the water, you can gaze at the misty green hues of Sheshan and Xiaokunshan Mountains, which complement ??Xiuhu Lake beautifully. The shimmering lake and picturesque mountains create a dynamic and elegant scene, reminiscent of the poetic lines “The water brims with sunshine and shines bright; the mountains blur in rain, a wondrous sight.”

To the left of the lake, there are undulating green fields and neatly divided forested areas. These are categorized into themed gardens such as the Crabapple Garden, Cherry Garden, Osmanthus Garden, and Plum Garden... If you close your eyes and let your senses guide you through the changing seasons, the fragrance of flowers wafts through the air. In spring, crabapple and cherry blossoms bloom like rosy clouds; in summer, fiery red pomegranate flowers compete in splendor; in autumn, osmanthus flowers burst forth, filling the air with their rich, golden fragrance; in winter, proud plum blossoms brave the snow, releasing their cool, refreshing scent... The ever-changing floral beauty throughout the seasons, with the lake infused with floral scents, is a truly captivating sight.

Take Shanghai Metro Line 9 to “Songjiang New Town” Station, then transfer to Songjiang Bus No. 20 and get off at “Dongshenggang Road Wenxiang Road” Station. Walk about 200 meters in the direction opposite to traffic flow to reach the entrance of Kunxiu Lake.
