Songjiang Sijing Park

Sijing Park is located on Jiangchuan Middle Road in Sijing Town, Songjiang District, Shanghai. Situated in this bustling town center, it is a free park offering entertainment, leisure, and fitness activities for visitors. Opened in October 1999, the park features a Western-style landscape with lush green lawns, large grassy areas, and peacocks. The park’s gateball court is especially popular among middle-aged and elderly visitors. Sijing Park was jointly funded by the Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Gardens, the People’s Government of Songjiang District, and the People’s Government of Sijing Town, and officially opened on September 28, 1999.

Covering an area of 83 mu, the park features a fountain plaza, rockeries with waterfalls, small bridges over flowing streams, waterfront platforms, relief wall corridors, statues of notable figures, and a rose garden. Towering ancient trees, birdsong, floral fragrances, and fresh air create a pleasant environment with various plants, aquatic flowers, and an overall beautiful setting. It serves as an ideal place for visitors to relax, enjoy leisure time, and cultivate their minds, as well as a perfect spot for local residents to exercise and engage in cultural activities.

Tao Zongyi, a literary figure from the late Yuan Dynasty, lived in Sijing for many years and authored the thirty-volume work “Nancun Chugeng Lu,” in which the story of Huang Daopo has been preserved and passed down. He once wrote the poem: “Flowers line both shores, blooming as if laden with evening emotions. Boats glide on autumn waters reflecting the scene, tinged with the clarity of sunset.” This poem depicts Sijing—a water town bathed in the glow of the setting sun.
