The former residence of Shi Liangcai in Songjiang is a cultural tourism attraction.

The former residence of Shi Liangcai, a media magnate and patriotic progressive figure, served as his occasional dwelling. Built in the early 20th century, it covers an area of 1,000 square meters with a built-up area of over 800 square meters. The restored and open residence now features exhibits in four sections: “A Turbulent Life,” “Deep Affection for Sishui,” “The Annals of Journalism,” and “A Soul Tied to China,” along with displays of some original items once used by Shi Liangcai.

Shi Liangcai (1880–1934), originally named Jiaxiu, was from Jiangning County. He was a newspaper tycoon.

In the 27th year of the Guangxu reign of the Qing Dynasty (1901), he was admitted to the Hangzhou Sericulture School. After graduation, he taught successively at Shanghai’s Wang Family Talents School, the Ordnance School, Wuben Girls’ School, and Nanyang Middle School. In the 30th year of Guangxu, he founded the Shanghai Girls’ Sericulture School, which gained attention from Shanghai’s business and academic circles. The following year, he joined the Constitutional Research Association organized by Shanghai’s academic community and co-founded the Jiangsu Education Affairs Association with Huang Yanpei and others.
