The Wusong Fort Anti-Japanese War Site is a Shanghai Municipal Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

The Wusong Fort Anti-Japanese War Site is located within the Wusong Garrison area at No. 27 Tanghou Branch Road, Haijiang Xincun Neighborhood Committee, Wusong Subdistrict, Baoshan District, Shanghai.

It was initially built in the 12th year of the Guangxu reign (1886), when a 12-inch caliber, 800-pound shell breech-loading gun was installed. In the 15th year of the Guangxu reign (1889), two 8-inch caliber breech-loading guns were added, later supplemented by two 4.7-inch caliber and one 6-inch caliber guns, all of which were breech-loading quick-firing cannons. By 1931, there were 11 cannons in place. During the January 28th Incident in 1932, the site was bombed by Japanese forces. Currently, the Wusong Garrison unit of the Shanghai Garrison Command has established a “Wusong Ancient Fort” on the ruins, covering an area of approximately 1,500 square meters. An ancient iron cannon inscribed with “General Pingyi Jingkou” (General Who Pacifies Barbarians and Calms Invaders) has been placed on a central marble platform. On March 19, 1984, it was designated as a Shanghai Municipal Memorial Site. The preservation condition is currently good.

On April 4, 2014, it was announced as a “Shanghai Municipal Cultural Relics Protection Unit.”

Wusong Subdistrict: Wusong Subdistrict is located in the eastern part of Baoshan District, bordered by the Yangtze River and Huangpu River to the east, the Sitang River to the west, extending from Changjiang Road south to the southern wall of the East China Shipyard, and reaching Shuangcheng Road to the north. It covers an area of 7.52 square kilometers, with 30,300 households and a population of 77,000, governed by 24 neighborhood committees. In May 2006, it was formed through the merger of the former Wusong Town Subdistrict and Haibin Xincun Subdistrict. Wusong is a century-old town, an important military stronghold, the site where national hero Chen Huacheng sacrificed his life, and the main battlefield of the two Battles of Shanghai.
