Shanghai Wanli City (Former Site of Jinan University) serves as a patriotic education base.

The site where Shanghai Wanli City is located was formerly Wanli Village in Changzheng Town, Putuo District. It is situated in the northern part of Putuo District, stretching from Jiaoji Road in the east to Zhenning Road in the west, along Jiaotong Road to the south and Wuwei East Road to the north. Covering an area of 2.16 million square meters with a total construction area of 2.57 million square meters, it boasts a green coverage rate of 47%. The entire residential community is embraced by 1.05 million square meters of urban gardens, making it a model residential area that leads in technology, offers a beautiful environment, enjoys convenient transportation, and has comprehensive amenities. The residential area was developed by Shanghai Zhonghuan Group on June 17, 1997, and was among the first four model residential communities in Shanghai. It has won numerous awards, including the Best Residential Community Prize in the Selection of Shanghai Classic Architecture for the 50th Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China, the Shanghai Excellent Residential Gold Award, the National Outstanding Cross-Century Residential Community Design Award, the National Special Gold Award for Residential Design, the Sole Special Gold Award for Premium Residential Unit Design by the Ministry of Construction, the Architectural Form Gold Award at the First China Outstanding Environmental Design Competition, and the Landscape Design Gold Award.

Its jurisdiction covers an area of approximately 7.67 square kilometers, bordered by Taopu River (east), adjacent to Caoyang New Village Subdistrict; to the south up to the area north of Jinshajiang Road and Wusong River, connecting to Changfeng New Village Subdistrict and Changning District; to the west reaching WanZhen Road and Huajiabang Road, adjoining Zhenxin Subdistrict of Jiading District; and to the north along Cao’an Highway, bordering Zhenru Town.
