The Former Site of the General's Mansion of Heilongjiang is a cultural relic protection unit of Heilongjiang Province.

The General's Mansion

The General's Mansion, a provincial-level cultural relic protection unit, was the official residence of the Heilongjiang General during the Qing Dynasty in the ancient city of Buku. Its original location was at No. 6 Zhonghua West Road in Qiqihar, adjacent to the current site of the City Second Hospital to the east. It was built in the 34th year of the Kangxi reign (1695) by the first Heilongjiang General, Sabusu. Legend has it that during the Qianlong reign, when the emperor made a western tour, the General's Mansion served as a backup imperial palace and underwent renovation and expansion, forming an elegant, spacious, and fully functional architectural complex consisting of three courtyards and four blue-brick tile-roofed houses.

As the foremost official residence in ancient Heilongjiang, the General's Mansion witnessed the dramatic changes of history. From Sabusu establishing his office and residence in the ancient city of Buku during the Kangxi era, to General Shoushan taking his own life in the mansion during the final years of the Guangxu reign to sacrifice himself for the nation, it endured through eight dynasties of the Qing Dynasty. Of the 76 Heilongjiang Generals appointed by the Qing court, only a few had never resided here. After the Boxer Rebellion (1900), the General's Mansion was occupied by Tsarist Russia for seven years. Following the late Qing transformation of Heilongjiang into a province, the General's Mansion remained a key site for local military and government administration. After more than 300 years of vicissitudes, by the end of the 20th century, the original structures of the General's Mansion had fallen into severe disrepair.

In 2000, the municipal government relocated this important historical site to Mingyue Island in the Nen River. The relocated General's Mansion covers an area of 6,000 square meters, not only restoring the original architectural style but also housing a historical and cultural exhibition dedicated to the General's Mansion. Today, the former General's Mansion serves as a patriotic education base and a tourist attraction, further preserving historical heritage and writing new chapters of glory.
