Qiqihar Labor Lake

Qiqihar Labor Lake is a national water conservancy scenic area.

Labor Lake is situated in downtown Qiqihar and runs through the urban area. It is part of the city’s tourism scenic belt and is considered an urban sightseeing cultural landscape area. The lake spans 7.5 kilometers in total length, passing through the North Sluice Gate, Xiushui Park, Xibo Park, Buqi Park, Longsha Park, Nenjiang Park, and the Drainage Sluice Gate before flowing into the Nenjiang River, covering a water area of 3.2 square kilometers.

The Labor Lake water system was originally an ancient river channel. After the construction of the Nenjiang Dam, it gradually turned into an urban lake. Starting in 2000, the municipal government invested 260 million yuan. Through three years of relentless effort by the builders, and overcoming numerous challenges, the first phase of the Labor Lake water system project was successfully completed on schedule and up to standard. The project included the construction of four squares, one open-air cultural plaza, 48,000 square meters of paved roads, 68,000 square meters of pedestrian walkways, 220,000 square meters of green space, relocation of 770 households covering 33,400 square meters, as well as the installation of over a thousand various types of lamps.

Today, the shores of Labor Lake present picturesque scenery. Relief sculptures, statues, and musical fountains create a rich cultural atmosphere; green spaces, colorful lights, and fountain plazas attract large numbers of visitors. In summer, Labor Lake is bustling with traffic and crowds of tourists, while at night, the scenic area dazzles with radiant and magnificent lighting. Labor Lake has become a popular destination for locals to relax, exercise, and enjoy leisure activities.
