Songlin Park is located in Xindian Forest Farm, Duerbote, 29 kilometers from Taikang Town, the county seat. Xindian Forest Farm was established in 1958, covering a total area of 197,000 mu, with forested land spanning 146,000 mu, including 54,000 mu of Scots pine, making it the largest sandy Scots pine forest in western our province. When we say it's the largest, we mean it's the largest plantation of Scots pine on sandy soil. This Scots pine forest is also part of the national "Three-North Shelterbelt" project aimed at preventing wind erosion, stabilizing sand, and improving the ecological environment. It was planted two decades ago following a government decision. Twenty years later, this place has transformed into a sea of green — an immense asset left behind for future generations in every sense.

In 1993, to accelerate the development of tourism in our county, Songlin Park was built on the eastern side of Xindian Forest Farm, on the western shore of Dalonghupao, facing the water and backed by woods. The park features an observation tower 12 meters high. Climbing to the top offers a breathtaking panoramic view: under the blue sky and white clouds, the lake connects with the horizon as the water and sky merge into one. The vast sea of swaying pines is lush and verdant, and the endless landscape spreads out before your eyes, bringing delight and serenity. Stone tables, benches, and uniquely designed hammocks are provided in the pine forest, along with charming log cabins known as “Lover’s Houses” featuring distinctive forest-style architecture. By the lake, there is an open-air dance hall and amusement arcade, surrounded by local eateries, restaurants, cold drink stands, and other food service options offering folk-flavored cuisine. The shallow waters near the lake form a safe swimming area, with water sourced from the clean and clear Nenjiang River. The natural sandy beach along the shore is the perfect spot for sunbathing. There are also three natural sand dunes within the park, including the renowned “Wuma Shatuo” known both within and beyond the province — an ideal location for treasure hunts, tug-of-war, grass football, and beach volleyball.

Songlin Park is rich in wildlife, home to over a hundred species such as roe deer, hares, Mongolian gazelles, foxes, pheasants, quails, larks, and cranes. Every May and June, apricot blossoms, wild yellow flowers, and orchids bloom all over the hills. From July to August, the forest offers sweet and tangy wild fruits like mulberries and hawthorns that are hard to resist. Here, you can savor ethnic Duerbote specialties such as whole roasted lamb, roasted lamb leg, hand-pulled sausage, and hand-pulled tripe, treating your taste buds to an authentic culinary experience.
