The organizers of the Explore Qaidam initiative officially announced in December 2014 that Zeng Chen, moderator of the Southwest China forum on Green Field Outdoor Network, would serve as deputy team leader for this event.

Zeng Chen, male, born on October 3, 1991, in Wulong County, Chongqing, is currently a moderator for the Yunnan, Sichuan, Qinghai, Chongqing, and Tibet forums on Green Field Outdoor Network. He is an expert in wilderness survival and extreme sports. Committed to the discovery and promotion of tourism and outdoor resources in western China, in 2014 he proposed the development of a full industrial chain centered around “travel and outdoor themes” in the west.

“The “Explore Qaidam” themed activity is a long-term, series-based exploration project planned by the government of Haixi Mongol and Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in Qinghai Province. Based in Haixi, the activity focuses on lesser-known natural resources, mountain outdoor sports resources, tourism development potential, and event resources around the Qaidam region on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. It involves route exploration, surveying, experience, and documentation. During the exploration, team members will use photos, videos, and text to record in real time geographical location, landform features, climate characteristics, cultural elements, and the current status of flora and fauna along the routes, achieving a comprehensive and scientific understanding of each path. After the exploration, the collected data will be compiled to establish a relatively complete natural resource database, providing authentic and comprehensive data support for future outdoor activities, tourism development, and sustainable operations.
