The event is co-hosted by the Automobile and Motorcycle Sports Management Center of the General Administration of Sport of China, the Sports Bureau of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, the Administrative Office of Alxa League, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, and the China Social Work Association under the Ministry of Civil Affairs.
The China Alxa Desert Challenge features a total route of over 3,000 km, with competitive sections spanning 2,000 km, traversing the Badain Jaran, Tengger, and Ulan Buh deserts.
According to the organizers, the Badain Jaran Desert is known for its steep dunes, while the Tengger and Ulan Buh deserts are characterized by crescent-shaped shifting or semi-shifted sand dune chains. The unique terrain makes Alxa one of the world’s most suitable locations for off-road rally races.
The organizing committee stated that the event will feature three permanent camps—beginner, intermediate, and advanced—along with comprehensive desert race tracks. Additionally, the Dakar International Executive Team will join forces to ensure an internationally high-level competition on a premium course. Over 30 teams (including factory and independent drivers) and hundreds of racing vehicles are expected to converge for the ultimate desert showdown.
It is reported that during the event, the "Alxa Drive for Good" charity journey will also be held, including public fundraising, celebrity challenge races, the National Selection of China’s Best Drivers, and the National Selection of Skilled Technicians. These charity initiatives will bring together the efforts of the organizing committee, celebrity drivers, sponsors, and volunteers to bring warmth to disadvantaged communities in northwest China.
