On July 6, with the conclusion of the men’s age group races, the sixth stop of the 2017 China Cycling League season successfully wrapped up in Alshan, Inner Mongolia.
This event was jointly organized by the Chinese Cycling Association, the Xing'an League Administrative Office, and the Sports Bureau of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, and hosted by the People's Government of Alshan City, the Xing'an League Culture, Sports, News and Broadcasting Bureau, and the Xing'an League Tourism Bureau. It was co-organized by the China Scenic Area Association and exclusively operated by Shizhi Sports. The race also received strong support from brands and platforms including ZGL, ofo, DARE, XIMA, China Life, YUEYUE, Gatorade, GT Sports Glasses, Afande Premium Luggage, and Codoon.
The Alshan Port integrates functions such as cross-border tourism and international trade, serving as an important node in the national “Belt and Road” development strategy and the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region’s “One Fortress, One Belt” initiative. The timing of this league race coincided with the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. Culture, sports, and tourism became an excellent combination for visitors nationwide coming to Alshan, while cycling brought unprecedented vitality to the region.
The 2017 China Cycling League – Ride Boldly and Freely! After an exceptionally exciting speed battle, on the second competition day in Alshan, Shi Zongkang from CRSR-Lefeng Cycling Team won the men’s age group championship of this leg with a time of 2 hours, 30 minutes and 4 seconds. Hong Kunhong from Novatec Yanhao Cycling Team and Kong Wensheng from Merida Challenger Cycling Team took second and third place, respectively.
July 6 marked the second competition day of the China Cycling League Alshan Station in Inner Mongolia. The 101-kilometer course not only included the previously covered Alshan–Yiershi loop but also added extended undulating sections leading to the Alshan National Forest Park. With increased mileage, greater elevation gain, rising temperatures, and persistent winds, today’s race could easily be considered a true open category challenge.
Among the 192 riders participating today, many were already familiar with parts of the route from the previous day’s men’s open category race, giving them better judgment on optimal attack timings and positions. This made the race pace even more intense and the competition fiercer. Although the weather was not conducive to breakaways, several teams attempted attacks early on. Teams such as Novatec Yanhao, Merida Challenger, and UCC Immediate Start were highly active at the front of the peloton, causing strong riders like Li Changde from Yatay Gusto Cycling Team to fall behind early. In the end, Shi Zongkang, with superior sprinting ability, triumphed in the sprint among these nine riders, adding another victory for CRSR-Lefeng Cycling Team.
Beyond the competitive aspect, the league also engaged athletes and cycling enthusiasts through themed activities like “CCL in Action,” allowing them to experience the stylish and leisurely appeal of two-wheeled culture while gaining a deeper understanding of Alshan’s water culture and further promoting the concepts of ecological conservation and green cycling. Meanwhile, the online cycling event for the China Cycling League Alshan Station in Inner Mongolia, held simultaneously on the Codoon platform, once again fulfilled the participation aspirations of cycling fans across the country.
The China Cycling League emphasizes not only high-level competition but also the rights and interests of amateur riders. The total prize money for the 2017 season reached an impressive 3 million RMB. The league implements a tiered rating system, rewards outstanding teams, and includes an incubation program to support team development. The prize pool for this stop exceeded 120,000 RMB. Additionally, the reward scope has been expanded, and distribution has become more equitable. From August 26 to 27, the league will head to Fengjie, Chongqing.
