The Lianhuan Lake Waterfowl Hunting Ground is located in Dorbod Mongolian Autonomous County, Daqing City, in the southwestern part of Heilongjiang Province. It consists of 18 interconnected lakes, covering a water area of 580 square kilometers—the largest in China—and is currently the country’s only international natural waterfowl hunting ground. It is also a picturesque resort destination.

The hunting ground stretches over 60 kilometers from north to south and more than 20 kilometers from east to west. It features dense reed beds, numerous secluded bays, lush aquatic vegetation, and abundant fish and shrimp. It is home to 249 species of waterfowl, including key protected species such as bean geese, swans, red-crowned cranes, and grey cranes.

There are 49 species of huntable waterfowl available at the site, such as mottled ducks and pheasant-tailed jacanas. The optimal hunting seasons are from early April to early May and from early September to early November. In addition to hunting, the site offers recreational facilities such as cruise boats, yachts, sampans, fishing ponds, and bathing beaches. The Lianhuan Lake area is home to over 40 species of fish. Freshly cooked fish dishes and the traditional “whole fish feast” made with raw fish are local specialties.
