Hekou Water Conservancy Scenic Area, Lanxi County

The Hekou Water Conservancy Scenic Area is a national AAA-level tourist attraction and a national water conservancy scenic area.

The Hekou Water Conservancy Scenic Area is located in the southeastern part of Lanxi County, Heilongjiang Province, about 4 kilometers from the county seat, 67 kilometers from Harbin, 5 kilometers from National Highway 202, and 87 kilometers from Suihua City. It borders the Suilan Highway to the north and echoes the Donglin Temple Scenic Area, while extending south to the foot of Laha Mountain, adjacent to the Huangyazi Folk Tourism and Cultural Village.

Established in 2005, the scenic area was built around the Hekou Hydropower Station. Its attractions are distributed along the western bank of the Hulan River. The planned area of the scenic zone is 360,000 square kilometers, with a currently developed area of 40,500 square kilometers.

1. Hekou Hydropower Station: Certified by experts and approved by the national water conservancy authorities, this is a major technological highlight of the Hekou Water Conservancy Scenic Area. The station spans 422 meters, with a rubber dam 90 meters wide and a main power house covering 860 square meters. It generates 6–8 million kilowatt-hours of electricity annually, powered by three generating units with a total installed capacity of 1,500 kilowatts. Energy-efficient and environmentally friendly, it pioneered the development of hydropower generation on plains.

2. Xianyou Palace: Covering an area of 50,000 square meters, Xianyou Palace is a sacred and classic ancient Taoist architectural complex. It houses structures such as the Hall of the Three Pure Ones, the Jade Emperor Hall, the Guan Yu Hall, and the Spirit Official Hall. The halls are majestic and imposing, enveloped in auspicious clouds. It is the largest Taoist activity center in the three northeastern provinces and also the most spectacular site within the scenic area for sightseeing, worship, and prayer.

3. Prince’s Tomb: Located on the mountainside of the southern hill, this site is the ancient tomb of a prince of the Jin Dynasty. It is the burial place of the fourth prince of the Great Jin Kingdom, interred in 1115 AD, nearly a thousand years ago. The site consists of a memorial archway, hanging towers, a spirit way, the tomb mound, and a tombstone. At the entrance stands a memorial archway, flanked by two hanging towers that serve as guardians. Beyond the archway lies a straight, expansive spirit way lined with 18 stone beasts on both the northern and southern sides, each with unique expressions, standing guard there. The completed Prince’s Tomb is grand, solemn, and awe-inspiring.
