The romance of French flair   New menu item “French Fat Boy Pancake” from Belle Époque

Having to wait until 11 a.m. for breakfast is killing me~ The French Fat Boy pancake has been on my must-try list for ages. Since I live nearby and my roommate was still fast asleep, I came here for brunch. The decor is exquisite right from the entrance, and there’s even a cute tricycle with a wooden box outside.

Belle Époque is themed around French style, with yellowed-looking decorations placed throughout.

I went straight to the pancake section. Both the OREA and bubble tea pancakes are super unique and attractive, but I spotted the French Fat Boy as a new item and just had to give it a try.

The two drinks were Toffee & King and Caramel Pudding Milk Tea—both very sweet beverages.

The French Fat Boy pancake is like a French toast, made by sandwiching peanut butter between pancakes, dipping them in egg batter, and frying them again. The pancakes are served on a steel plate, not overly thick, lying flat on it. The pancake has the café’s name sprinkled on top with powdered sugar and a slab of butter, while a small clear cup holds orange granita and a white cup contains maple syrup. It wasn’t as greasy or heavy as I expected—the taste was good and I finished it quickly. Haha.

Seeing the massive and enticing cheese fries at the next table, the two of us, who were pretty hungry, ordered an extra portion. It was indeed bottomless—so crazy.
This environment, perfect for wannabe hipsters, is a bit overdone (hahaha), but girls coming here to take photos would still have a great time. The food is genuinely good too. I still want to try the bubble tea pancake.
