Kurbin is a Manchu word meaning "place to dry fishing nets" in Chinese. The Kurbin River originates from the northern slope of the Lesser Khingan Mountains and is a first-level tributary on the right bank of the Heilongjiang River. It is the second-largest river in Xunke County, with a total drop of 695 meters from its source to its confluence with the Heilongjiang River. The Kurbin River rafting journey spans 15 kilometers and takes about four hours. Towering rocky mountains line both banks, and the scenery along the river is breathtakingly beautiful. Various flowers and plants grow between the rocky cliffs on either side, with blooming flowers adding a mysterious charm to the stony landscape. The mountains are covered with tall, upright trees, including coniferous species such as larch and Scots pine, as well as broadleaf species like birch, black birch, and linden. The river basin covers an area of over 4,900 square kilometers. The Kurbin River maintains abundant water flow year-round, featuring winding channels, significant elevation drops, and rapid currents. Steep cliffs and precipices are common along the banks, and the riverbed is dotted with jagged rocks and perilous shoals, offering rafters an exhilarating and thrilling experience.

On either side of the Kurbin River, one bank features bizarre rocks and steep cliffs, while the other is covered with lush green hills. Looking up, the mountains rise high and continuous, dark green and misty, densely forested and rich in vegetation. Smooth rock faces occasionally display a solitary tree or cluster of bushes clinging to life, gazing up at the river and nature amid wind and rain. The cliffs forever stand as angular, proud, and unyielding figures. Though weathered by wind and eroded by rain, though time has turned them into cold black and gray hues, they remain towering and majestic, reaching toward the sky. Hardy grasses stubbornly sprout from their surfaces, and unnamed wildflowers dot the rocks like stars. I proudly think that the wisdom and courage of the people living along the river must have grown from these steep cliffs. Looking down at the river, the rugged cliffs and verdant forests are all reflected upside down in the water without exception. Fish swim where we can see them, and clouds and sky are visible in the clear water. How can water so deep be so crystal clear and immaculate? Kurbin River, how much noise from the mundane world must you have absorbed to achieve such serenity and tranquility?
