The Heineken Museum: A Must-Visit for Beer Lovers Traveling to the Netherlands – A Fun-Filled Half-Day Tour

Heineken beer is the most famous national drink in the Netherlands, so visiting the Heineken Experience in Amsterdam is naturally a must-do on your travel itinerary. You can set aside half a day to explore it. It’s one of the most entertaining museums I’ve visited—fun (with tons of interactive experiences), delicious (you get to taste the beer), and perfect for visitors who love taking photos. It’s a playful, educational experience that blends fun and discovery.

If Paris is known as the city of love, then Amsterdam could definitely be called the city of bikes. Bikes are parked everywhere, and they fill the streets, often zipping around recklessly. Dutch friends often joke that they were riding bikes before they stopped drinking milk. Haha~ It’s not uncommon to see couples riding bikes hand in hand—a thrilling yet romantic sight.

Old advertisements and posters show the evolution of design styles. Over time, Heineken’s ads and logo have continually adapted, but the one thing that has never changed is the beer recipe.

The image shows the evolution of the Heineken logo. The change from a red star to a white star on the logo occurred during World War II, when they wanted to avoid any association with communism, but it was later reverted back to the original red star.

At the beer fermentation tank display, staff offer samples of unfinished beer for tasting. It’s completely non-alcoholic, but the sugar has been extracted, leaving a sweet and uniquely smooth flavor.

The highly anticipated beer-drinking area features a star-shaped bar where staff demonstrate how to pour the perfect pint—the foam and beer should meet exactly at the star mark.

Sci-fi space capsule seats come with a 360-degree audiovisual system. Lie back in the pod, watch classic ads on the screen, or take a break here after walking around.

Step up to the DJ booth for some fun. Just standing there makes you feel energized under those dazzling light and sound controls.

The display of the four generations of the Heineken founding family offers a fun and adorable introduction style, far more engaging than old photos found in other museums.

This half-day beer museum tour not only teaches you about the beer-making process and brand history, but also lets you taste various brews, sample unfinished beers, try freshly brewed young beer, enjoy lots of fun and interactive exhibits, take photos, and even create your own custom beer. The souvenir shop at the end has a wide range of goodies. Overall, the Heineken Experience is truly an adult amusement park—with plenty to see, do, drink, and buy. It’s especially recommended for couples and groups of friends.

By Tram:
From Central Station, take tram lines 16, 24, or 25 and get off at the “Stadhouderskade” stop. From “Leidseplein,” take tram 7 to Flevopark or tram 10 to Azartplein, then get off at “Weteringcircuit.”
By Car:
No matter which direction you're coming from, follow the “Amsterdam Ring Road (Ring A10)” and exit at S110. Then follow signs for “Centrum” and you will arrive at Stadhouderskade. There is an indoor parking lot about 50 meters away.
By Boat:
Get off at the Heineken Experience dock, and the brewery is right in front of you.
