North China’s Little Jiuzhai Scenic Area is the core scenic zone of Weihu Mountain National Forest Park. Located on the eastern foothills of the Zhangguangcai Mountain Range, an extension of the Changbai Mountains, in Hongsheng Forest Farm under the Chaihe Forestry Bureau, it is 95 kilometers away from Mudanjiang City. The total area of the scenic area is 3,108 hectares.

Development and construction began in May 2002, and it started receiving visitors in May 2003. The scenic area features dozens of beautiful rocky peaks, with uniquely shaped pines and peculiar rocks scattered throughout. Two unpolluted and crystal-clear high mountain rivers—the Golden Valley Stream and the Silver Valley Stream—flow year-round. Due to the significant elevation drops and numerous cascades, they form a rare and spectacular series of nine-tiered waterfalls, seldom seen in Northeast China.

The scenic area boasts dense primeval forests dominated by Korean pine trees, with towering ancient trees and a variety of exotic flowers and plants complementing one another. The forest environment is rustic, serene, fragrant with blossoms, and alive with birdsong in the valleys. Its stunning natural scenery resembles a fairyland on earth, earning it the well-known title “North China’s Little Jiuzhai.” North China’s Little Jiuzhai Scenic Area is an ideal destination for those seeking to reconnect with nature, immerse themselves in the embrace of the great forest, admire green mountains and clear waters, engage in eco-tourism, and enjoy a cool summer retreat.
