Numerous skiing enthusiasts take to the slopes
On November 14, the opening ceremony of the 2015-2016 ski season at Vanke Songhua Lake Resort was held at the start of the main ski run and in front of “Jilin ONE,” the highest-altitude restaurant in Jilin City. Hundreds of skiing enthusiasts from Shenyang, Changchun, Jilin, Nanjing, and other places enjoyed the endless fun brought by snow sports here.
On the day of the event, skiing enthusiasts from community groups and ski clubs put on impressive performances on snowboards and alpine skis, earning rounds of applause and cheers from the audience. Wang Hao, a young man from Changchun, said, “We had never tried skiing before. Through this event, we’ve developed a strong interest in the sport. Next time, I plan to bring my child along to experience the joy of skiing together.”
It is understood that Vanke Songhua Lake Resort is a key project in Jilin Province’s tourism development and the core of the “Songhua Lake Tourism Resort,” one of the ten functional zones in Jilin City. The Songhua Lake Ski Resort is located at the northern foot of Daqing Mountain and by the shores of Songhua Lake, featuring a unique terrain that can accommodate both family vacations and international competitions. The maximum elevation drop reaches 605 meters. The area has an average annual snow season of over 150 days, with normal snow accumulation of about 1 meter and excellent snow quality. In 2015, the Songhua Lake Ski Resort fully opened 28 ski runs, increasing the skiing area to 1.51 million square meters. Six new Doppelmayr chairlifts with heated seats from Austria were added, with a total length of up to 9 kilometers. Challenging advanced runs and a snowboard park meet the needs of more experienced skiers.
“We will cooperate with Jilin Province to cultivate more talent in snow and ice sports,” said Ding Changfeng, Senior Vice President of Vanke Group. Jilin Province is a major hub for snow and ice sports in China and has produced multiple Olympic champions. Therefore, they plan to work with relevant departments in Jilin Province to train some primary and secondary school students interested in snow and ice sports, allowing them to experience the joy these activities bring.
Ding Changfeng told reporters that currently, there are more than 40 ski resorts in Jilin Province. Whether in terms of scale or facilities, the Songhua Lake Ski Resort ranks among the top. For the 2015-2016 ski season, Vanke Songhua Lake Ski Resort is expected to attract 200,000 visitors, with the goal of achieving a significant increase within three years, reaching 400,000 visitors.
