Hailin City Hengdaohezi Siberian Tiger Development Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Hengdao Siberian Tiger Park) is a for-profit institution dedicated to the research, breeding, conservation education, and educational tourism of Siberian tigers. It is affiliated with the Heilongjiang Provincial Department of Commerce, directly under the Harbin Tiger Park, and is the world's largest artificial breeding base for Siberian tigers. In order to protect the endangered Siberian tiger population, in 1986, the National Forestry Department and the Heilongjiang Provincial Foreign Trade Company jointly established the China Hengdaohezi Feline Breeding and Rearing Base. In November 1998, leveraging the base’s resources and breeding advantages of Siberian tigers, the Hengdao Siberian Tiger Park was established. Over the past twenty-plus years, the park has received strong support from party, government, military leaders, and all sectors of society. With high-level attention from various ministries and the hard work of the staff, as of now, starting with just 8 purebred Siberian tigers at its inception, the park has successfully increased the Siberian tiger population to nearly 900. By exchanging preserved genetic materials with other institutions, the park has maintained genetic diversity within the population. It is also a source of pride that Siberian tigers bred at Hengdao Siberian Tiger Park have been sent to locations such as Shanghai, Dalian, Shenyang, Shandong, and Changbai Mountain.

Hengdao Siberian Tiger Park is located at the foot of Xueyuan Weihu Mountain in Hailin City, eastern Heilongjiang Province, at the 211-kilometer mark of the former National Highway 301. Surrounded by mountains and dense forests, the area enjoys a forest coverage rate of up to 98%. The park has a temperate winter climate, with 2,400 hours of annual sunshine, 500 millimeters of annual rainfall, and extreme temperatures reaching 36°C. The valleys on both sides boast lush water and grass, making the geographical environment and natural conditions highly suitable for the habitat and reproduction of Siberian tigers. As a result, in 2007, Hengdao Siberian Tiger Park was awarded the honorary title of “China’s Tiger Homeland” by the state.

Covering an area of 140,000 square meters with a built-up area of 3,500 square meters, the park has seen a cumulative investment of 20 million yuan. It is currently home to over 400 live purebred Siberian tigers, including nearly 200 that are kept in the breeding area for educational breeding purposes. The remaining over 200 live tigers include Siberian tigers of various ages, African lions, as well as the extremely rare liger, white tigers, and white lions, which are available for visitors to observe, learn about, and appreciate.

Hengdao Siberian Tiger Park features eight scenic areas: the Fierce Tiger Park, Cub Tiger Park, Science Education Hall, Rare Animals Viewing Area, Large Animal Performance Arena, Secondary Animals Zone, Bear Pool, and Deer Park. It takes at least two hours to fully explore the park. The Fierce Tiger Viewing Park requires a vehicle tour—visitors sit in cars while searching for tigers and observing the majesty of Siberian tigers. On the walking trails, guests can also directly watch the tigers’ wild training and tree-climbing skills, study their living habits, and even personally feed them meat, release live chickens, or let loose live cattle. Here, visitors can not only observe Siberian tigers up close and witness the king of beasts in action, but also truly “roam” among groups of tigers, experiencing the thrill of tiger-versus-bull battles, the excitement of group tiger hunts, and the intensity of tiger-vs-tiger confrontations.
