The beautiful Huangyuan Manchu Cultural Park is located within the riverside tourism development zone of Ningjiang District, Songyuan City, and can be directly accessed by boat from the Songyuan Bridge Pier. Situated 15 kilometers from the city center, it covers an area of 400,000 square meters, surrounded on all sides by river, with hundreds of fish species swimming in its waters. The island is shaded by lush trees, and various types of vegetation maintain their pristine beauty. Huangyuan derives its name from being a prime habitat of the huang fish.

Legend has it that during the Qing Dynasty’s Qianlong Emperor’s reign, the emperor traveled north beyond the capital to Sanjiangkou. Hearing from local fishermen about a particularly precious fish called “yellow fish,” said to extend one’s life upon consumption, the emperor requested the fishermen to catch and prepare some for him. Upon tasting it, he found the flavor exceptionally delicious and unique. The emperor then revealed his true identity. Thereafter, he issued a decree that every New Year’s Eve, the largest huang fish available should be sent to the imperial palace. Thus, the huang fish — a specialty of the Songhua River known for its large size, delicious taste, colorful skin, and noble name — was designated as a tribute. From then on, a special fish duty was established: in summer, the caught huang fish were brought to the “dragon head” and kept in ponds on the river island (now Huangyuan), where they were raised until the New Year. When the time came, the fish were transported to the palace in wooden boxes filled with water so the emperor could enjoy them. This is how the place got its name — Huangyuan (Huang Fish Pond).

Here, the environment is elegant and the air fresh. Dining on plump fish from the river offers a feeling of merging with nature. The island features fish ponds covering more than 5,000 square meters, home to seven or eight species of fish. There is also a fruit orchard spanning over 2,000 square meters, planted with varieties such as crabapple and cherry, with more than 500 fruit trees. The built-up area including the boat dock totals over 20,000 square meters. Roads are paved, the environment is beautified, and the air is purified.

Over the years, based on the original terrain, through careful planning, design, and construction, it has now developed into a Manchu cultural park of considerable scale integrating dining, accommodation, and entertainment. For dining, the Huangyuan Manchu Cultural Park restaurant features halls and private rooms with traditional Manchu architectural characteristics, accommodating up to 200 people dining simultaneously. For those who wish to enhance the outdoor experience, meals can also be served in the woods, with tables set amid the trees.

Huangyuan Manchu Cultural Park has its own vegetable production base, and all vegetables produced are natural green foods. In spring when the earth revives and fruit trees blossom, the staff here pick more than ten varieties of wild vegetables for visitors to try. At Huangyuan Manchu Cultural Park, you can have freshly caught fish at any time, poultry and rabbits raised on-site are slaughtered for immediate cooking, and you can even harvest freshwater mussels anytime — the clams here are large, meaty, and uniquely flavorful. Visitors can also fish, gather mussels, slaughter chickens and geese, and pick vegetables themselves. It can be said that Huangyuan Manchu Cultural Park lets you fully enjoy the Manchu culture with its unique ethnic charm.

For accommodation, the Huangyuan Manchu Cultural Park villas are fully equipped, with a total of eight villas accommodating up to 50 guests. Each guest room is furnished with a television, bathroom, and shower facilities. The villas are independently fenced, with courtyards planted with persimmons, eggplants, muskmelons, chili peppers, and more, available for visitors to pick themselves, offering an authentic Manchu rural living experience. The environment is cozy and the service is excellent. The eight villas are uniquely styled, nestled within the forest on the island, allowing guests to fully enjoy the boundless pleasures of living in nature.

In terms of entertainment, Huangyuan Manchu Cultural Park provides fishing platforms equipped with fishing rods and bait for guests to enjoy cooling off and angling. There are also outdoor swimming pools, golf courses, mahjong rooms, shooting ranges, sand bath areas, open-air swimming pools, and rooms with Manchu-style décor, enabling visitors to relax and enjoy leisure through sports and recreation. Currently, there are 40 staff members, with a daily reception capacity of around 200 people, and round-the-clock service personnel. The Huangyuan Tourist Resort has a daily reception capacity of 1,000 to 2,000 people.

The beautiful and tranquil Huangyuan Manchu Cultural Park will continue to develop new recreational activities and beautify the environment while preserving its pristine ecological state.
