The Hadasan Water Conservancy Scenic Area in Songyuan City is a national AAA-level tourist attraction and a national water conservancy scenic area.

“A mountain need not be high; it is famous so long as there is a deity on it. A lake need not be deep; it has supernatural power so long as there is a dragon in it.” This saying perfectly captures the essence of the Hadasan Scenic Area. Brought to life by the mountain and thriving thanks to the water, the entire area offers picturesque lakes and peaks, misty waters stretching far and wide, and delightful scenery. Walking on the Guanlan Platform, you can see the light blue river water flowing quietly before your eyes, blending seamlessly with the sky. From time to time, fishermen pass by in boats, their gradually fading figures evoking a sense of the vastness of heaven and earth, as if the landscape were a painted scroll. Standing by the river, you’ll see the “Thousand-Layer Cliff Wall,” formed from layers of green and ochre rocks arranged neatly — a masterpiece of nature.

Hadasan, meaning “steep peak” in Mongolian, earned its name because the Songhua River, like a white silk ribbon, flows in front of the mountain — resembling a sacred hada (a ceremonial scarf). Hence, the mountain came to be known as Hadasan. The Hadasan Scenic Area is located on the left bank of the Songhua River in the southeastern part of Qianguo County. The mountain stretches 10 kilometers in total length and stands 185.8 meters above sea level. The scenic area spans a planned area of 90 square kilometers, with Hadasan Lake covering 75 square kilometers. It now features attractions such as the Lotus Pagoda, the Hub Dam, Guanlan Platform, the Fishing Garden, the Cruise Dock, and the Agricultural Sightseeing Garden.

Climbing the Lotus Pagoda not only provides a panoramic view of the Songhua River but also allows you to appreciate the majestic presence of the Hadasan Water Conservancy Hub Project. Completed in 2011, the pagoda is shaped like a lotus and represents a perfect fusion of modern observation towers and Tibetan Buddhist stupas. The interior of the tower, an underground section, is used to enshrine sacred relics. The inner walls of the tower body are adorned with exquisite murals depicting Buddhist stories and folk legends. The top of the pagoda takes the form of a Mongolian yurt, symbolizing the roundness of the sky. This tower embodies the wishes of the people of Hadasan for blessings, peace, and the calming of the mountains and rivers. It embodies the rich culture of the Mongolian and Manchu peoples and stands as the iconic structure of the Hadasan Scenic Area.

The completion of the Hadasan Water Conservancy Hub Project has added a magnificent painting of blue skies, clear waters, lush greenery, beautiful mountains, and splendid dams to the Hadasan Scenic Area. The scenic area, with key attractions such as the Hadasan Hub Dam and the Lotus Pagoda, is another urban landmark created through the combination of natural beauty and regional culture.
