Former Site of the Yanji Frontier Administration Office

The Former Site of the Yanji Frontier Administration Office is a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

Era: Qing Dynasty

Address: At the intersection of Guanghua Road and Congliu Street, Yanji City, Jilin Province, north of the People's Government of Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture. Originally a large architectural complex covering an area of 290 mu, built around the first year of the Xuantong reign of the Qing Dynasty (1909). The complex included the South Building, North Building, Office Block, Main Hall, Flower Hall, and 221 rooms with blue brick and tile roofs. Today, only the South Building remains, which is the building of the former Frontier Administration Office.

The building is 20.8 meters long from east to west and 18.6 meters wide from north to south. It is a grand structure with blue bricks, black tiles, and upturned double eaves. The round wooden pillars around the outer walls rest on exquisitely carved drum-shaped plinths, and the porches and eaves are decorated with intricate geometric patterns, showcasing Qing Dynasty architectural style. In the first month of the second year of the Xuantong reign (1910), after the Qing government disbanded the Frontier Administration Office, the building was subsequently used by the Southeastern Road Military Preparedness Bureau, the Southeastern Road Observer, the Yanji Dao (Prefecture) Government Office, the Yanji Diplomatic Office, the puppet Gando Provincial Office, the puppet Provincial Government Office, and the Special Agents Division of the puppet Provincial Government Police Department.
