Dalian Victory Square

The square is located in the Qingniwaqiao commercial center area in front of Dalian Railway Station in Zhongshan District, Dalian. Beneath it lies a multi-level, massive integrated five-star shopping mall that combines shopping, entertainment, dining, and leisure, making it a true “city that never sleeps.”

In 1992, the renowned Taiwanese entrepreneur Cai Chen-nan visited Dalian on a business trip. He noticed the bustling shops, heavy pedestrian traffic, and the convergence of multiple tram and trolleybus lines in front of the railway station. Major commercial streets and department stores such as Tianjin Street, Qiulin Company, and Dalian Department Store all intersected here, and nearby were several star-rated hotels including Kyushu Hotel and Bohai Pearl Hotel. These factors led him to decide to build a shopping mall at this location.

After five years of construction, Victory Square finally unveiled its mystery in 1998. On the north side of the square is an ancient Roman-style sunken plaza, where various festive events are often held. Enjoying exciting performances in such an exotic plaza is truly a delightful experience. There are also two European-style buildings on the square: one houses Gome Electrical Appliances, and the other is a dining venue featuring well-known restaurants such as Royal Banquet, Pizza Hut, KFC, and PPPS. After a tiring stroll around Victory Square, you can treat yourself here. The main part of Victory Square is actually underground, spanning three basement levels plus a mezzanine that extends far and wide. To give a tangible sense of its size, perhaps it’s better to mention that there are over 50 exits and more than 100 escalators. The underground area is filled with a wide variety of shops, and numerous boutique stores add splashes of color to this subterranean city. Here, you’ll truly understand why people say Dalian residents love fashion. With temperatures hovering around 20 degrees Celsius year-round, it naturally becomes the perfect place for fashion enthusiasts to show off their style. Themed zones divide the underground city in an orderly fashion: Qianlong Grand Market is a hub for various accessories, Jimmy’s Little Station is a great spot to relax, and the Telecom Market is the ideal place to shop for mobile phones... If you have a poor sense of direction, asking for directions is a common occurrence here.

The arrival of night does not diminish Victory Square’s beauty. Over 500 ornate lights and colorful neon lights shine brilliantly, adorning the square to resemble a fairy-tale castle.

Today, Victory Square has become an iconic landmark of Dalian and is a must-visit attraction for tourists coming to the city.
