The “2013 Taipei International Tourism Japanese Art Festival – Art in Zhongshan” will launch a series of engaging activities from May 3, featuring a Japanese-style decorative arts exhibition, in-depth historical and cultural tours of Zhongshan District, Japanese art experiences and lectures. Registration for related activities is now open, with participants having the chance to win prizes such as round-trip tickets to Japan or a Maple-scented Charm Pendant from the Qingshuiang Shopping District.

The highlight of this event is the opportunity to join free in-depth historical and cultural tours of Zhongshan District, which include four different themed routes: Yuan Mountain Cultural Stroll, Qingshuiang’s Stunning Western and Japanese Architecture, Alleyway Culture Walk, and Zhongshan North Art Exploration. These tours are planned and guided by Mr. Wu Zhiqing, CEO of the Landscape Humanities Society, with English and Japanese interpreters accompanying the groups. Visitors are welcome to invite international friends to join and discover the rich historical and cultural beauty of Taipei City.
Within Taipei’s over 120-year history as a city, a wealth of foreign cultures have blended in, making Taipei a vibrant metropolis where tradition and modernity coexist harmoniously. Zhongshan District, in both its history and cultural development, carries a profound Japanese-influenced lifestyle foundation, allowing visitors to experience the area’s rich local cultural characteristics and the exotic charm of diverse, community-integrated aesthetics.

The “2013 Taipei International Tourism Japanese Art Festival – Art in Zhongshan” takes place at Zhongshan Civic Hall and within Zhongshan District. The Japanese-style decorative arts exhibition displays Japanese artifacts from the Interchange Association and private collections, showcasing the beauty of traditional and modern fusion in Japanese decorative arts. The Japanese art experiences and lectures allow participants to try Japanese art forms such as origami, wear a yukata, enjoy Japanese dance, participate in cold-brew tea ceremonies, listen to the Tsugaru shamisen, and admire Japanese tea utensils. There is also a Japanese-style charity bazaar, with proceeds going to dementia prevention efforts and the Taiwan Cat Lovers Association.
Attendees can receive an “Art in Zhongshan Card” upon entry, and collecting three activity stamps allows them to enter a lucky draw on-site with abundant prizes, including a round-trip ticket to Japan (select any airport in Japan, excluding airport tax and fuel surcharge).
