Xiangzhou Folk Village

The folk village is situated on the eastern side of the resort area and will present the rural customs and folk culture of southern Liaoning. During the Three Kingdoms period, scholars from Shandong, including Guan Ning (who lived in seclusion at Guanning Tun in Haicheng) and Wang Lie (who lived in seclusion on Dalian’s Sanshan Island), sailed across the sea to settle and teach in southern Liaoning, leading to local customs and education that were notably different from other regions east of the Shanhai Pass. As a result, later generations called it the “Land of Guan and Wang.” The ancestors of the people in southern Liaoning were mostly Han Chinese immigrants from “Little Yunnan” and “Hainan Diu’er,” deeply rooted in traditional Han customs and education. This cultural identity was so strong that assimilation with the Manchu people during the early Qing Dynasty proved difficult. Therefore, the theme park of the folk village will also take visitors on a journey to revisit that unforgettable chapter of southern Liaoning’s history.

Its facilities include: the Guanyin Temple, the Farmhouse Story Mountain, the Intangible Cultural Heritage Street, the Farmhouse Courtyard, the Cultural Revolution Era exhibit (displaying items from the Cultural Revolution period in southern Liaoning), the Countryside Mini Train (which circles around Jindou Mountain, allowing visitors to view the entire park), the Old Theater, and many other folk-themed attractions. It adds another great destination for “promoting the history of southern Liaoning and spreading its folk culture.”

The Guanyin Temple, also known as the Grand Temple, is located on the eastern side of the resort area. Built against a mountain and facing west—an unusual orientation—it features spacious entrances on both sides, black-tiled hanging roofs, and grand, wide temple gates. The entire temple complex is majestic in scale. Standing at the temple gate gives one the feeling of overlooking the landscape from a high vantage point. It is truly regarded as the most spiritually efficacious site, attracting a continuous stream of visitors daily who come to admire the scenery, collect sacred water, offer incense and prayers to the Bodhisattva, and pay homage.
