Located in Qingpu, Shanghai, Zhujiajiao Town is a very typical ancient water town in the Jiangnan region. During the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, it boosted local industry and was known for having “a three-li-long street with a thousand shops.”

Today, Zhujiajiao has become one of Shanghai’s most popular tourist destinations. Travelers can take the newly opened metro from the urban feel of the Huangpu River and instantly arrive at this thousand-year-old town, experiencing its timeless charm.

The ancient town has planned eight major attractions. Visitors can purchase tickets to enter or simply walk in without buying a ticket. Although there are many tourists, the town covers a large area, so it doesn’t feel crowded. Strolling around is leisurely and comfortable.
