Benxi Lake Industrial Heritage Cluster

The Benxi Lake Industrial Heritage Cluster is a Major National Historical and Cultural Site.

The Benxi Lake Industrial Heritage Cluster is located in Xihu District, Benxi City, Liaoning Province, China. In 2013, it was designated as part of the seventh group of Major National Historical and Cultural Sites by the State Council.

The heritage cluster comprises the former site of Benxi Iron and Steel (Bensteel) First Ironworks, the cooling water tower of Bensteel Second Power Plant, the tomb mound containing the preserved hair of Okura Kihachiro, the former site of Benxi Lake Coal and Iron Co., Ltd. (Little Red Building), the former office building of Benxi Lake Coal and Iron Company (Big White Building), the Central Main Incline Shaft of Benxi Coal Mine, the Zhang Zuolin Villa on Dongshan, the Benxi Lake Railway Station, and the Caidun Coal Mine Shaft Group. These sites have witnessed the rule of the Qing Dynasty, the Republic of China, Manchukuo, and the People's Republic of China. In October 2014, Benxi City allocated 9.86 million yuan to restore the Little Red Building and Big White Building within the heritage cluster, as well as to carry out anti-corrosion work on the blast furnace at the former site of the First Ironworks.

In May 2013, the Benxi Lake Industrial Heritage Cluster was listed as part of the seventh group of Major National Historical and Cultural Sites.
