Changhua boasts many historic buildings, such as the Lukang Old Street, Confucius Temple, Bagua Mountain Giant Buddha, Three Mountain Kings Temple, and Longshan Temple, all of which are important testimonies to local development. Currently, Changhua County has 39 historical sites, 63 historical buildings, and 1 cultural landscape. In July, the Changhua County Cultural Affairs Bureau newly approved four buildings as historical architecture in Changhua County: the “Fangshan Hall of the Liu Family Ancestral Temple in She Tou,” the “Fude Temple of the Beidou Founding Ancestral Temple,” the “Xihu Sugar Refinery Five-Chi Station,” and the “Zhongxing Village in Changhua.”

The “Fangshan Hall of the Liu Family Ancestral Temple in She Tou” was built during the Jiaqing era of the Qing Dynasty. The inscription on the Liu family ancestral hall reads “The three-bay front hall section was constructed under the charge of Pan Chunlai, Rongjia,” and “She Tou Village, She Tou Township, Yuanlin District, Taichung Prefecture.” The interior paintings are inscribed with “Painted in the Gengchen Year.” Along with the Fangshan Hall of the Zhushan Town in Nantou County, both are named after the Fangshan Hall of the Liu Family Ancestral Temple in Nanjing, Fujian, and hold historical significance.

The “Fude Temple of the Beidou Founding Ancestral Temple,” along with the Mazu Temple of the Dian’an Palace, were landmark temples during the establishment of the Beidou town. After renovation in 1976 (the 65th year of the Republic of China), it took on its current appearance. It primarily enshrines the earth gods of the five directions—east, west, south, north, and center—and is commonly known as the “Beidou Gejie Fude Zhengshen” (The Upright God of Earth of Beidou Street).

“Zhongxing Village” is located in Changhua City and was the residential quarters for the dependents of the Nationalist Youth Protection Corps. After the catastrophic flood of August 7, 1959 (the 48th year of the Republic of China), the entire military dependents' village was destroyed. After multiple renovations, the main structures now consist of ten connected buildings and surrounding architectural complexes, although the residents have all been relocated.

During the Japanese colonial period, the Meiji Sugar Refinery built the “Xihu Sugar Refinery Five-Chi Station” to connect transportation across the Changhua region centered around Xihu. It was capable of transporting both people and goods, linking Lukang, Xizhou, Beidou, and Yuanlin, facilitating movement for the local population at that time. At its longest, the railway stretched a total of 161 kilometers, making it one of the most significant historical sites.
