East Pagoda Mountain Pagoda

East Pagoda Mountain Pagoda is a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

Address: Located within Hongmaozi Township, Fuxin Mongolian Autonomous County

This pagoda is an octagonal, eleven-tiered, hollow brick pagoda of the dense-eaves style, with a remaining height of 24.4 meters. It consists of three parts: the underground palace, the base, and the body of the pagoda. The underground palace has a total height of 8.98 meters, with a square floor plan at the base measuring 2.37 meters on each side; the base is a Sumeru pedestal, 6.11 meters high.

The exact date of the pagoda’s initial construction is unknown. Based on historical records and its architectural style, it is believed to have been built in the mid-to-late Liao Dynasty. The pagoda is situated in a mountain valley on Pagoda Mountain, approximately two kilometers west of Chengzhou City from the Liao Dynasty. Chengzhou was a private city of Princess Yanying, the second daughter of Emperor Shengzong of Liao (Yelü Longxu) and the Princess of the Jin Kingdom. It was established in the first year of the Taiping era of the Liao Dynasty (1021).

In May 2013, East Pagoda Mountain Pagoda was announced as part of the seventh group of National Key Cultural Relics Protection Units.
