Black Mountain Lotus Lake

Located 30 kilometers east of Heishan County, on the eastern side of Tuchengzi Village in Jiangtun Town, along the western bank of the Raoyang River and adjacent to the Heishan Reed Farm, Lotus Lake boasts a long history and magnificent natural scenery. It is the largest of its kind in Northeast China, covering an area of 1,300 acres. Every year, 18 species of birds such as wild geese, swans, and mallards come here to inhabit.

Tens of thousands of naturally grown lotus flowers stand gracefully in the lake, with large green leaves glistening with crystal-clear dewdrops. The pinkish-white lotus blossoms emit a captivating fragrance. Clusters of water chestnuts float on the water’s surface, while schools of fish swim beneath. Small boats glide across the lake, supported by bamboo poles, and lotus seeds as big as bowls sway gently with the movement—truly a scene reminiscent of the water towns in southern China.

Historical records indicate that as early as the Liao and Jin dynasties, this area was abundant with blooming lotuses and prosperous in resources. A earthen city was built on the western bank, and in the ninth year of the Dading era of the Jin Dynasty, Wangping County was established there. It is said that Zhang Sanfeng, the founding master of Tai Chi, was born here.

With beautiful natural scenery and no pollution, Lotus Lake currently features four tourist attractions and four fish breeding sites, making it an ideal location for ecological aquaculture. Moreover, the lotuses are large and the lotus seeds and lotus roots are of exceptional quality, making it a great destination for eco-tourism. Visiting here gives one a feeling of returning to nature and embracing simplicity, truly an enchanting experience.
