Former Site of the Pure Dormitory

The former site of the Pure Dormitory is a cultural relic protection unit of Yingkou City.

The former site of the Pure Dormitory is located in Zhanqian Community, Qinghua Subdistrict Office, Dashiqiao City, 200 meters west and north of the Dashiqiao Railway Station square. Approximately 200 meters to its north are the Changda Railway and the railway guesthouse.

This two-story L-shaped building faces east and is situated to the west. It has a ridged roof covered with tiles and a wavy canopy. The building is 331 meters long from north to south, 12 meters wide from east to west on the northern side, 12 meters long from south to north on the southern side, and 17 meters wide from east to west.

Built in 1937 as one of five dormitories constructed by the South Manchuria Railway Company in Dashiqiao, the Pure Dormitory served as the single-person residence for railway “gold hats” (equivalent to today’s workshop foremen). It stands as a historical testament to the era of imperialist aggression against China, particularly in Yingkou and Dashiqiao. Since its completion, the building has always been used for residential purposes and now serves commercial functions.

In 2012, the Yingkou Municipal People’s Government (Ying Zheng [2012] No. 173) designated the former site of the Pure Dormitory as a municipal-level cultural relic protection unit. The scope of protection and construction control zone announced by the Yingkou Municipal People’s Government (Ying Zheng [2013] No. 185) defines the protected area as extending 4 meters east, 10 meters south, 10 meters west, and 5 meters north from the outer wall of the former site of the Pure Dormitory.
