The Douwangling Scenic Area is located at the border of Luquan City and Jingxing County, within the territory of Jingxing. Developed in 2010, it covers an area of over 1,000 acres. Why is it called Douwangling? It’s named after Dou Jiande, a hero of the peasant uprising at the end of the Sui Dynasty, who once led his troops to fight and live here — scattered across the site are the remnants of the military encampments of Dou Jiande’s peasant rebellion army from 1,300 years ago. During his campaign to overthrow the Sui Dynasty and establish the Daxia regime, Dou Jiande set up camp here, creating a base with forward positions, depth, and a rear defense system. In over 20 villages across Jingxing County, there are relics and legends about Dou Jiande’s rebel army. For example: the camps where Dou Jiande stationed his troops are still called Shangzhai, Nanzhai, and Beizhai. It is said that the place where Dou Jiande was buried is still called Douwangmu Village. Before arranging for Princess Nanyang to become a nun at Cangyan Mountain, the princess resided in the Tanhua Tower, which still stands tall within the scenic area.

Qingliang Mountain is located in the western part of Jingxing Mining District, Shijiazhuang City, about 48.5 kilometers from downtown Shijiazhuang. The mountain is primarily composed of Lower Paleozoic limestone. Geologically, it lies on the western edge of the Jingxing Depression. Over millennia, the combined effects of internal and external forces have created a temperate karst landscape. Countless years of wind and rain erosion have endowed Qingliang Mountain with the majestic grandeur of northern peaks as well as the delicate and precipitous charm of southern landscapes. Due to its steep terrain, lush ancient trees, and beautiful scenery, the mountain is dotted with natural caves along its slopes and is home to perennial springs. In the scorching summer, visitors here are greeted by refreshing breezes and a serene atmosphere, making it an ideal summer retreat—hence the name “Qingliang Mountain” (Cool Mountain). According to the *Jingxing County Annals* (1931), Qingliang Mountain “features a massive stone terrace, within which stands a grand temple complex. At the foot of the mountain lies a lovely shallow spring. In seasons of abundant rainfall, the spring flows into a small river—a delightful sight.” This indicates that Qingliang Mountain has long been a renowned scenic site in the Jingxing area.
