Jǐngxíng Cháoyáng Temple
Jǐngxíng Cháoyáng Temple is a cultural relic protection unit of Shijiazhuang City.
Jǐngxíng Cháoyáng Temple is located in Dōngzhèngzhuāng Village, Běizhèng Township, Jǐngxíng County, adjacent to the west side of Wēikuànggōng Road, offering convenient transportation. On June 1, 2001, it was approved as a Buddhist activity site by the Jǐngxíng County Civil Affairs Bureau. According to inscriptions in the temple, Cháoyáng Temple underwent renovations during the Jiajing era of the Ming Dynasty and the Jiaqing era of the Qing Dynasty. However, due to the passage of time and changing circumstances, the temple buildings were severely damaged, the Buddha statues lost their luster, monks were in short supply, and the overall condition had deteriorated. Since 1997, various halls in the temple have been renovated multiple times. Currently, the total construction area of Cháoyáng Temple is 635.66 square meters, and its development has begun to take shape.
The Mahavira Hall was rebuilt during the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty and renovated again in the tenth year of the Daoguang reign of the Qing Dynasty. In April 1999, it underwent another major renovation, and in May 2006, it was reconstructed. The current building covers an area of 200 square meters. Inside the hall, there are three bronze Buddha statues facing forward: Sakyamuni Buddha, Amitabha Buddha, and Bhaisajyaguru Buddha, each standing 3.6 meters tall. There are also two bronze guardian statues: Kāśyapa and Ānanda, each 2.5 meters tall, and the Eighteen Arhats are enshrined on both sides. The hall is resplendent and bustling with incense, accommodating over a hundred worshippers for Buddhist activities.
The Guanyin Hall was built in the tenth month of the 25th year of the Jiajing reign of the Ming Dynasty. The statue of the Goddess of Mercy was restored in the sixth month of the fifth year of the Jiaqing reign of the Qing Dynasty, and the hall itself was renovated in the second month of the fifth year of the Yongzheng reign. It was reconstructed in April 2004, with a current floor area of 45 square meters, housing the sacred statues of Guanyin Bodhisattva, Manjushri Bodhisattva, and Samantabhadra Bodhisattva. The "Kṣitigarbha Hall" was reconstructed in April 2004, enshrining the Kṣitigarbha Bodhisattva, with a current floor area of 45 square meters.
The Vajra Hall was rebuilt in the fourth month of the seventeenth year of the Qing Dynasty and reconstructed again in June 2002, renamed the "Heavenly King Hall." It currently has a floor area of 54 square meters, with the Four Heavenly Kings seated on either side.
The Bell and Drum Towers were reconstructed in the autumn of 2005. Inside, there is a large bronze bell weighing approximately one ton and a large drum with a diameter of 1.3 meters. The morning bell and evening drum produce clear and pleasant sounds.
