The Tuchengzi City Site is located in Xiawazi Village, Longhua Town, Longhua County, northwest of Chengde City, Hebei Province. The city was first built in the first year of the Yanhe era of the Northern Wei Dynasty (432). During the Sui and Tang dynasties, it was part of the Xiwu region of the Xi Kingdom. Emperor Shengzong of the Liao Dynasty established Beianzhou here, which was later renamed Xingzhou during the Jin and Yuan dynasties, and was eventually abandoned during the reign of the Ming Dynasty's founding emperor, Zhu Yuanzhang.
