Originally a purely European-style three-story building, it was constructed in 1931 and covers an area of 1,400 square meters. After the founding of the People’s Republic of China, it served as the site of the Shenyang Intermediate People’s Court. After the court moved out, the building gradually fell into disuse, becoming abandoned and dilapidated over the years. This villa was once an outstanding architectural work in Shenyang’s history. Starting in 2004, it was recognized by Shenyang as one of the first batch of immovable cultural relics. In October 2006, the Tang Mansion began renovation and was covered with a glass enclosure, intended to be converted into the “Tang Mansion Restaurant,” set to open by the end of June 2007. Huaiyuan Gate is located at the western end of Shenyang Road within the Fangcheng area, commonly known as the Great West Gate.
